Insurance Agent: Good morning. This is SeaSafe Insurance. How can I help with your travel cover today? Traveler: Hi, I'm booking insurance for a sailing holiday next month. It's a seven-night charter with a small crew. They'll even sing a traditional chantey while we sail. Insurance Agent: Lovely. We have a marine add-on for charters. One question: any pre-existing conditions, or a family genotype concern we should note? Traveler: My sister mentioned a genotype issue once. I don't have testing done, so I wondered if that affects medical cover. Insurance Agent: We don't require genotype testing, but genotype-linked conditions can affect a claim if declared poorly. Generally, you must state medical history. Traveler: Understood. Also, will singing chanteys, or loud deck parties, affect liability if something goes wrong? Insurance Agent: No. Singing itself won't void cover. However, the insurer was lambasted last year for denying a claim after a crew accident. The press lambasted them publicly. Traveler: I read a proclamation from the harbour authority about late-night noise, so I wanted to be careful. There's also a government proclamation about health checks for crew. Insurance Agent: Right. Port proclamations can impose rules that affect responsibility. We can add an option to spearhead safety advice to your group before departure. Traveler: That would help. Will you spearhead the claims process if we need it, or do we handle most of it ourselves? Insurance Agent: Our claims team will spearhead communications. Note one more thing: some policies exclude genotype-related treatment, while others will cover it if declared. It's a mixed picture. Traveler: So to be clear: you don't demand genotype tests, chanteys are fine, and you will help lead any claim. I won't lambaste the insurer in public if I file a complaint. Insurance Agent: Exactly. We'll confirm the policy wording in writing and include a short safety proclamation for your group. Would you like me to proceed with a quote? Traveler: Yes, please. And can you note the crew will sing chanteys on a couple of evenings and that my family genotype history is on file?
