Putaran 5

Dengar ulang tanpa subtitle

📝 Transkrip Dialog IELTS Speaking

I want to talk about how cities change. Recently our council proposed a redevelopment for the waterfront. They say it will modernize the area and create more jobs. Officials promised not to renege on plans to protect the old park and its trees. Yet last month they did renege on a smaller pledge about a community garden. If they renege repeatedly, public trust will be damaged. The designers suggested they might dismantle the old bandstand to make room for a glass pavilion. They plan to dismantle a few peripheral structures as well, according to the brief. Planners also say the scheme will curb traffic through better signals. But measures to curb pollution are not detailed. A consultant argued that some updates could mutilate the historical façade. I worry that modern extensions will mutilate original stonework beyond recognition. Officials insist they will only remove ten sculptures. However a leaked schedule lists thirty items to be taken away, which is worrying. They claim construction will take six months, while a neighbourhood petition stated it would last two years. My view is cautious. I support thoughtful upgrades. But I oppose rushed projects that dismantle character or mutilate heritage. We must curb excess, and demand the council not renege on clear promises.
