Librarian: Good afternoon. Welcome to the campus library. I'm Anna at the main desk. Student: Hi Anna. I'm Tom. I want to borrow a textbook for a couple of weeks. Librarian: Standard loans for general books are two weeks. Reference books are usually overnight. Student: Okay. And what about late fees? Librarian: We used to have a puny fine for late returns last year, but it's been increased recently, so please return on time. Student: Right. One more thing: where do I leave a damaged book? Librarian: If a book is damaged, bring it to the desk. Do not put damaged books in the outside drop box. Student: Thanks. Are there any behaviour rules I should know? Librarian: Yes. Please don't act like a moron in the reading area. That means keep voices low and no running. Student: I heard someone jokingly told a friend to act like a moron last week. Is that common? Librarian: We remind students not to do that. If someone tells you to act like a moron, tell staff immediately. Student: I noticed a pudgy little mascot figure near the entrance. It looks friendly. Librarian: Yes, the pudgy mascot is part of a student display. We also have a pudgy cushion in the magazine corner that many people like. Student: The study lamps are a bit weak here. Librarian: True, some desks have a puny lamp, so bringing a small personal lamp can help.
