Receptionist: Good morning. Clinic reception. How can I help you today? Patient: Hi. I have an appointment at ten under the name Carter. Receptionist: Yes, I see it here. You're seeing Dr. Lee for back pain. Please sign in at the desk. Patient: Thanks. I teach history and I had to cancel a lecture about Mesolithic tools this morning. Receptionist: Oh, that sounds interesting. The waiting room is on the second floor. Take the stairs or the lift. Patient: I had to cancel because of an inability to stand for long. My inability to sit comfortably makes long talks hard. Receptionist: I understand. The doctor is running about twenty minutes late. Patient: That's all right. I often parry doctors' questions because I worry I sound dramatic. Receptionist: If you prefer, you can fill a short form on the tablet here or ask for a paper form. Patient: My colleague is an encomiast of this clinic and always recommends it. She is an encomiast who praises the staff a lot. Receptionist: Parking is behind the building and usually free for patients. There is also some street parking with meters. Patient: I feel relief when staff are kind. After my last session I felt a kind of absolution, like a weight lifted. Receptionist: Good. We will call your name when the doctor is ready. Patient: I try not to parry all suggestions. I want to follow advice, but sometimes I resist. Patient: Also, I mention Mesolithic in class to show ancient tools. Today I missed that lesson because of this appointment. Patient: Partly I come for pain, and partly for absolution from anxiety about my health.
