Putaran 5

Dengar ulang tanpa subtitle

📝 Transkrip Dialog IELTS Speaking

Today I want to talk about how technology and social media shape public behaviour. I will mention both the tools and the people who use them. Many users are outspoken online. Some are outspoken about politics. Other people use profane language to get attention. Platforms try to moderate profane posts. Still, profane comments often slip through automated filters. Social media can amplify vice. By vice I mean gambling, addiction and other harmful habits. It can also magnify everyday vice, like compulsive scrolling. For some creators, the platform is literally a means of subsistence. Others earn subsistence-level income that barely covers living costs. Algorithms give laser-sharp targeting to advertisers. Some researchers also use laser sensors for eye-tracking studies of attention. Interestingly, one well-known platform reduced its character limit to 240 last year, and it set up a moderation team in Dublin. That detail is controversial. Critics say the claim about Dublin may not be accurate. The result, however, is that outspoken voices still gain traction. Companies sometimes respond with strict rules. But community enforcement is uneven. The consequence is that hateful speech and vice persist. We should study how technology can reduce harm without undermining free speech.
