Contemporary urban development often hinges on detailed attention to wind and microclimates. In our city redevelopment project the prevailing wind comes from the northwest. Designers study wind to avoid unpleasant gusts at street level. Tall buildings can create wind tunnels if poorly oriented, so orientation is adjusted accordingly. The central park will cover 12 hectares. It includes a five-kilometre cycle route and broad promenades where joggers often trot at a steady pace. Historically a bridle path ran through the site and horses used to trot along it in the nineteenth century. Completion is scheduled for 2028.
