City life is changing fast. A shiny glass skyscraper now dominates the riverfront. That skyscraper has shops and small apartments stacked like a village. Officials promised five new parks last year. In practice only two parks were built, which surprised many residents. People here still take pride in local traditions. For example, hockey matches on the frozen canal draw families each weekend. Hockey is less about winning and more about neighbours meeting and talking. In a council meeting somebody suggested converting rooftops into gardens. Many residents are resourceful. They use limited space for food, play and quiet places. One person in a study said somebody living in a tiny flat turned a balcony into a classroom for kids. Health workers interviewed people about stress. Several admitted they masturbate privately to manage anxiety in cramped flats. The researchers noted that many people masturbate because there are few private rooms in shared housing. Being resourceful helps with practical problems and emotional coping. The speaker argues that urban design should support both green spaces and private corners.
