I saw you filled in the questionnaire. It mentioned you enjoy a crossword on your commute. Candidate: Yes, I do a crossword every day. A tricky crossword yesterday took me almost the whole train ride. Interviewer: That shows patience. This role needs attention to detail. Can you tell me about your last job? Candidate: I worked in a mail order department for a retailer. I handled returns and managed inventory. Interviewer: We also have a mail order division here. Did you supervise anyone? Candidate: Yes, I supervised a small team of twelve and coordinated with about twenty vendors. Interviewer: Practical experience. When could you start if offered the role? Candidate: I could be available from mid-July. I need to finish a short freelance project until then. Interviewer: That's helpful. By the way, your video application showed your dog popping in. It was adorably calm. Candidate: Yes, my dog adores visitors and adorably sat by the door during recording. Interviewer: We like people who balance work and life. One team member even adorably decorated a welcome card when they joined last month. Candidate: That sounds nice. I like solving a crossword to unwind after work. It helps me focus.
