Pasada 1

Escucha a ciegas

Orientation Leader: Hi, welcome to campus. I am the orientation leader and I help new students settle in. New Student: Thanks. I am a bit nervous about classes and the general lifestyle here. Orientation Leader: That is normal. Our campus has huge cultural diversity. You will meet students from many countries. Orientation Leader: We also have academic diversity in programs, so people study everything from art to engineering. New Student: How can I meet people? I want to interact with classmates but I don't know how to start. Orientation Leader: The easiest way is to join clubs. Clubs help you interact casually and build friendships quickly. Orientation Leader: Also try the language exchange and study groups. Those are great places to interact and practise skills. New Student: What about housing and food? I heard the lifestyle here is very different from home. Orientation Leader: Yes, lifestyle varies a lot. Some students live on campus and have a busy social life. Orientation Leader: Others prefer an independent lifestyle off campus with quieter routines and cooking for themselves. New Student: If I feel homesick, is there anything to help? Orientation Leader: Absolutely. The counselling centre offers support and can provide a remedy for homesickness. Orientation Leader: If you are unwell, the student health centre can also remedy minor illnesses and give medical advice. New Student: Where is the welcome fair? I want to get information about clubs and housing. Orientation Leader: The welcome fair is in the Sports Hall at 11 a.m. tomorrow. Orientation Leader: If you prefer a quieter spot, the Arts Building hosts small exhibitions and information tables too. New Student: Okay. When should I come to the orientation meeting? Orientation Leader: Meet at the Student Union at 9 a.m. We will walk the campus together. New Student: Great. I appreciate the tips about diversity and different lifestyles. I think joining a club will help me interact better. Orientation Leader: Exactly. Embracing diversity and trying varied activities will really help you settle in and find the best remedy for homesickness.
