Immigration Officer: Good morning. Passport please. Where did you fly in from?
Traveller: Morning. Here you go. I came from London on flight BA187.
Immigration Officer: And the purpose of your visit?
Traveller: I'm here for a three-day conference, then some sightseeing. Overall, ten days.
Immigration Officer: Do you have a return ticket?
Traveller: Yes. I fly back in ten days. I also have a letter from the conference organiser.
Immigration Officer: We ask a few routine questions. Sometimes people give a different reason as a pretext. For example, they say tourism but really plan to work.
