Project Manager: Good morning. Thanks for coming in on short notice. Team Lead: Morning. No problem. I brought coffee because I thought we might need it. Project Manager: Right. We need to talk about the clash that happened in the last team meeting. Team Lead: Yes. It was tense. Some people said it began over seating, others blamed a coffee spill. Project Manager: I want to be clear. The main problem is cultural sensitivity and respect. Our Iranian colleague Farah felt excluded. Team Lead: Farah, who is Iranian, mentioned that people kept using the wrong pronoun for her during group updates. Project Manager: That pronoun mix-up seemed to upset her, and it fed into jealousy about who gets credit. Team Lead: I noticed jealousy showed up subtly in meetings, like interruptions and snide comments. Project Manager: So there was a clash of personalities, yes, but also a clash between assumed norms and actual needs. Team Lead: What do you suggest we do? A formal apology, or training? Project Manager: I prefer a short workshop on inclusive language, especially correct pronoun use, and a session on recognition to ease jealousy. Team Lead: That sounds practical. If we stress respect for our Iranian colleague and better communication, the clash should calm down. Project Manager: Exactly. We will follow up with Farah personally and offer a chance to speak. We will also monitor team dynamics to prevent further jealousy.
