Today I want to describe a local initiative to tackle pollution along our riverside. The programme began as a small volunteer group and then became a city-led project. Early on we hit a hiccup when funding was delayed. That hiccup meant scheduled water quality tests were postponed for a month. Developers later offered some deluxe sponsorships, but these were not accepted. The team overcame a minor hiccup in logistics by rerouting vehicles. Continuous monitoring has shown reduced pollutant levels. By tackling decay and improving amenity access, the city hopes river life will recover and visitors will be more respectful.
